According to a report from Gamespot, developement costs for Star Wars: The Old Republic has reached $80 million.
This ranks Star Wars: The Old Republic being one of the most expensive video games ever made. It’s close to Grand Theft Auto IV which reportedly cost around $100 million to make.
Despite the astronomical costs of the game, EA is confident that it will make a profit out of it. The company predicts that it could reach 1.5 million loyal paying subscribers when the game comes out.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is scheduled to be released later this year, although there’s a chance it could be delayed until early 2012.
