Minecraft Beta 1.4 Wolf Details

Jens Bergensten one of the guys at Mojang behind Minecraft, has today answered a number of questions on the new mob to Minecraft.

Questions were posed to him on his jeb_ twitter account, he responded to a number of them giving us a handful of decent facts about them. Firstly he reaffirmed that wolves will only defend themselves unless you attack or get hurt by something.

Jeb_ went onto explain that you must physically hit the mob you want the wolves to attack as “at the moment” firing an arrow at them doesn’t count. It’s interesting to see that it is at least a possibility that the team will be looking into.

The pet wolves will not actually be able to climb ladders. Fear not when building your mine, castle or even just roaming “they can teleport” instead of climbing; which I suppose is the best way the team at Mojang could find to get around the oddity, of wolves getting up and down ladders.

Currently there is no limit on the amount of wolves that players can tame at once however a limit may in the future be applied. Now you know that you can tame a massive army of wolves, I bet you want to know how to find them well Jeb_ also explained that “Wolves spawn in forest at daytime”.
