Notch has today made an intriguing statement in regards to the Minecraft’s achievement system.
When asked on Twitter on the subject of achievements unlocking objects Notch swiftly replied “Nothing that matters in the game, no.” This majorly hints at there being items that aren’t very helpful being unlocked.
Perhaps something visual or an object that won’t help advance the player; such as a simple dye or items of attire.
Do you want to gain items from achievements or do you think it will ruin the game? Comment your opinion below.

March 26, 2011 at 8:18 PMit would be better if it was like you make a wood pic then it allows you to make the stone then the steel then the gold tehn diamond. instead being able to jsut go straight to like steel. it would a tad more to the game. the unhelpful items i dont reall care about, but either way achievments defenatlayy add a good element to the game

March 27, 2011 at 1:18 AMI don’t think achievements should make any changes to the game. The idea of them is to give users who have built a few impressive structures but gotten bored along the way something to do. If they did, personally, I’d think it’d unbalance the game and explode my head.

March 28, 2011 at 3:46 PMSeeing it was my question I think achievements should unlock SOMETHING just not anything that would “break the game”.

March 30, 2011 at 5:04 PMI think that achievements should just unlock fun little trophies that dont really do anything but cool to look and and it can be something you can show off in the forums.

April 2, 2011 at 1:54 AMI vagely recall something about Notch stating ‘Achievements and stats will be completely optional and players who aren’t interested can easily ignore them’ or something to that effect. So I’d expect if it DID add anything they would be things like the ability to make Trophies out of varying materials.
