Installs are always optional on the Xbox 360 but it seems another game not only loads faster but runs smoother after installing.
Crysis 2 is another game which seems to have been optimised for installation on both consoles, although it is mandatory on the PlayStation 3. If you are an Xbox 360 owner the install will be a massive 5.5GB, a whole 1.5GB more than for the PS3. The reason it is bigger on the 360 is that the install puts the full game onto the HDD.
Some Xbox 360 users of course won’t be able to set aside this amount of room but this install will only optimise the experience, the game can be played as usual straight from the disk without need of an install.
With Crysis 2 being optimised for install on all consoles will this swing which console you buy it for? Comment your opinions below.

March 21, 2011 at 6:45 PMI want it for Xbox because most of my friends will get it for that console, but I like the fact that I can play free on ps3. Though, I’m worried on how the game will turn out performance wise and graphics wise. I do hate having to install almost every game on my ps3, takes up so much space over time, and takes time to download. I wish the PS3 had a option only install.

March 21, 2011 at 11:20 PMI’m one of those people who refuses to even PLAY a game, without installing it first (on the 360)
The noise alone turns me off of ever play a disc based game on the 360. Plus since the beginning i’ve always noticed better load times, and smoother gameplay with installed games. Mainly due to it accessing stuff off the HDD, instead of trying to dig it up on the disc when loading new locations, etc
RPGS and sandbox games both make installing a must. Constant loading, new locations loading in, and random encounters.

March 22, 2011 at 9:10 AM@Ray We “xbots” still are since installing on the Xbox 360 is entirely optional whereas on the PS3 it’s mandatory for some games. Plus most multi-platform games run better on the Xbox 360 anyway so installing them just increases that goodness even more with some games like apparently it does with Crysis 2 even though it’s already a mandatory install on the PS3. LMAO!
