Angry Birds developer Rovio, has today shown a disliking to comments by Nintendo on smartphones and the games industry.
Only yesterday Peter Vesterbacka the franchise manager from Rovio criticised Microsoft, but today he has changed his attentions to Nintendo. Vesterbacka commented on the Nintendo-Smartphone situation saying:
It’s interesting to see people like Nintendo saying smartphones are destroying the games industry. Of course, if I was trying to sell $49 pieces of plastic to people then yes, I’d be worried too.
Pretty strong words coming from the smartphone camp, we will have to wait and see if Nintendo will respond. What do you think about mobile games? Comment your opinion below.

March 31, 2011 at 10:20 PMReminds me of the Steve Jobs “un-innovative beige boxes” comment made referring to Dell Computers. I think the gaming console market is not going anywhere (PS and XBox). Though Rovio certainly is sitting in the catbird (or angrybird) seat capturing the growth in the mobile gaming space.
