Ever since Sony made it onto the market it’s been playing catch up with Microsoft in terms of registered players. A figure provided by CEO Howard Stringer at the CES presser now shows that the PlayStation network has accumulated up to 60 million accounts — a number twice as large as the XBox Live members.
This number cannot be confirmed based on activated accounts or can be broken down in terms of PS3 and PSP, but the increase over the past year has been severely dramatic. CES 2010, Stringer provided figures showing that the PSN had accumulated up too 38 million accounts.
