Apparently with the release of the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, retailers are having a problem keeping it in stock.
According to a tweet by Bioware they just cant seem to keep them in stock, which makes them happy but still in an effort to help gamers find this amazing game they set up a helpful thread on their forum. Please note this only affects people who want to get the retail copy, if you happen to want the digital copy (for the same price) you can always get that off the Playstation Network. If you do opt for the digital version keep in mind that its 12 gigs.

January 20, 2011 at 5:02 PMSeriously? I picked mine up randomly at a Best Buy, and they had like 50+ copies on the shelf. Plus who knows how much more over on the new release shelf

January 20, 2011 at 5:05 PMHow can they charge the same price for a digital copy as a hard copy. I would rather buy digital, but not if it is the same price.

It has to do with licenses and publishing fees, its the same reason you see books for slightly less on the digital market vs the real deal. On the other hand a case could be made that the price was set there so “Game Shares” couldn’t get the game for next than nothing. Regardless of what they charge GSers will pay less (12ish usd. Though I doubt this has anything to do with them…

January 20, 2011 at 11:40 PMI agree with Grasshopper. Companies need to start thinking about lowering the cost of digital copies of said games. Valve nails it with most of their titles.
Even with all this though, I still bought it off the PSN lol. Not exactly a regular with it though, and I hope everything DOESN’T go digital, as I only have like, 40GB of space on my PS3 atm.

Pretty lucky, I had to hit 7 stores. A bunch of my friends around the country can’t find it at all, every where is sold out. It’s nuts.
I don’t think the 360 version did this well….

January 21, 2011 at 10:31 AMppSucks… you live down to your moniker. Let’s see where final sales stand before making ridiculous comments about comparisons between 360 and ps3. ME2 on 360 was highly anticipated and bioware had a much bigger rollout for the game. Including shipping more copies. The pre-release trailers, movies, downloadable comics, etc. etc. were all over xbox live. Not to mention the promos for the novels and comics in stores. In comparison I have only seen the ME3 vid and ME2 demo on psn, with none of the epic trailers for ME2 featured anywhere on psn, and no television commercials at all (in the US anyway). I’m hoping it sells very well on ps3, Bioware has made my favorite series this generation and deserve to reap the benefits. I will be buying ME3 for my 360 due to having ME1 and ME2 multiple game saves and shepards on that system but if I could I would probably move it over to my ps3, unless ME3 has some sort of multiplayer component. Not much difference to be seen between the two versions to my eyes but it would be nice to not have to swap discs, though that is a small price to pay for such a brilliant experience.
