Entering the New Year was not so joyous for a 36 year-old ex-Nationwide employee. Qiang “Michael” Bi is sentenced to 2 ½ years of prison on Thursday for counterfeiting and selling more than 35, 000 copies of computer games.
A District of Columbia judge charged him with aggravated identity theft, mail fraud and copyright infringement, fruits bore from the tree of his old Nationwide e-mail account. The FBI CyberTask Force investigated Bi after he emailed himself a spreadsheet to his account. The document contained over 50 e-Bay and Paypal accounts of different names. These accounts verified Bi sold the counterfeited games at $10 USD, products that are normally priced at $20 USD.
