A new class-action lawsuit against Electronic Arts has been filed in response to a price inflation on all Madden titles by up to 70%. EA has an exclusive agreement with the NFL in accordance with these price inflations and has violated the antitrust and consumer protection laws by holding these exclusive licenses with the NFL, and other major companies (NCAA and Arena Football League).
A Seattle based law firm Hagens Berman who are representing the consumers say, “we believe EA forced consumers to pay an artificial premium on Madden NFL games.”
The case was allowed to proceed on December 21 and EA has yet to comment on the lawsuit filed against them. A dollar amount from the plaintiffs in terms of compensation has yet to be reached.
