Well the day that everyone was waiting for finally came; the release of the new 12611 dashboard also known as the Kinect dashboard. One of the main (and un-announced) features was the implementation of Anti-Piracy 2.5 or AP25.
This is a new way of checking the backup disc to ensure it is authentic (to get those nasty pirates off of our paid-for LIVE service!). The first 2 games to actually utilize this so far are Fable 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
AP25 will affect systems with later version Hitachi drives (noone knows the revision/fw numbers they start implementing it in), BENQ, as well as the Lite-ON drives. ALL Samsung drives are incapable of reading the new Security Sector v3 (another requirement for AP25) which in turn required Microsoft to turn off AP25 checks on any systems with Samsung disc drives.

November 3, 2010 at 11:26 AMupdate released 2 days ago your behind. Too bad for MS that it has already been cracked less than a day after it was released, and new fw will be released soon to counter it. by the way blackops isnt a ap2.5 title as far as we can tell at the moment.

November 3, 2010 at 11:50 AMTo be honest… they sure took a long time to do it but I wonder if this will be enough, I’m really sure that somehow soon they will overcome this barrier again
