Sega announced that Virtua Tennis 4 is currently in development for the PlayStation 3 and will have full Move support.
Virtua Tennis 4 will also be in 3D for the first time. It is being developed by the original Virtua Tennis team in Japan.
Virtua Tennis 4 promises to deliver the most realistic tennis experience ever recreated in a video game thanks to the technology of the PlayStation Move. Players can now pinpoint the accuracy of their shots using the Move controller just like if it were a real tennis racquet.
Here is what Simon Rutter, Vice President of Sales and Marketing SCEE had to say:
“Virtua Tennis 4 is a fantastic example of how 3rd Party partners are seeing the potential not just in PlayStation Move, but also 3D. The combination of both Move and 3D offers an entirely new gaming experience and one that has the potential to completely change how people interact with their entertainment. Virtua Tennis 4 shows how this technology can be implemented and we are very excited to be working with SEGA on this.”
Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA America commented:
“We have always strived to provide a tennis experience that is both true to the sport and great fun to play, and we are continuing to work with Sony to make this happen. With Virtua Tennis 4 being developed for PlayStation Move featuring 3D technology, the boundaries of realism in sports video games are being pushed even further.”
Additional features of the game and a full player line-up are to be revealed by SEGA in the coming months. So far only Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have been confirmed to be featured in the game.
Virtua Tennis 4 is out in 2011 and will be available on the PlayStation 3.
