According to GameStop, a new 160GB PS3 model is now available for anyone who wishes to purchase a PlayStation 3. The current MSRP of the 160GB is at $299.99, similar to the 120GB. It was first rumored that it’s coming in North America and now, GameStop confirmed with its listing on the website.
With GamesCom starting tomorrow, a lot of information have been leaking out today. The 160GB PS3 model was first available in Japan and now, it is now available in North America. Could this mean that the 120GB is going to be phased out?
More Gamescom information will be revealed this week. Check your local Gamestop for more information on the 160GB model.
Update: It seems GameStop pulled out the listing, therefore confirming the validity of this leak. Let’s wait for the official announcement soon.

August 16, 2010 at 9:29 PMHonestly, I might as well just exchance my hard drive on my original 80 gig, because there is no way in hell that I’m going to be able to afford yet *another* system on top of all of the games I’m planning on getting.
Sorry, PS3. :’-(
I want you just to stay up-to-date, but you’re ultimately just putting me in debt. Rofl.

August 17, 2010 at 12:23 PMNot necessarily phased out, but will become less popular (if not vice versa). I believe that the 160 GB version will be the middle between the 250 GB and 120 GB, with 120 GB becoming cheaper by $50 or so, that said, this gives Sony an excuse to slightly increase the price for the 250 GB.
Accessories could potentially become slightly cheaper, but potentially being rarely since we all know Sony as a stingy giant.
I too saw the PS3 160 GB version last night on their site (and it was late too), but I checked this morning only to find it gone, so I called them and the the sales clerk is not informed of the release date.
I will check Futureshop to see what they say, because I didn’t catch the hiccup on their site.
