If you have finished the first White Knight Chronicles you may want to save your clear file as you may not be able to play the sequel without a cleared save file.
As White Knight Chronicles 2 will include the first game in it entirety. From an interview with 4gamer series director, Toshiyuki Kusuda said that players who have not cleared the first game will be forced to play it before they can play the sequel.
To clear any confusion, you need a “cleared’ saved file not just any “saved” file from the first game to play the sequel.
For any gamers who managed to finish the first game have two options to choose from. They can continue playing from the end of the first game or start the first game from scratch with all your items intact but at level one. Kusuda suggested players may want to revisit the first game as the sequel’s gameplay mechanics will be implemented.
Kusuda also said that the White Knight Chronicles that come with White Knight Chronicles 2 is different from the original retail release. Meaning you cannot play online with others with differing versions.
So, if you want to play White Knight Chronicles 2 I’d suggest you start playing the first one and complete it.
White Knight Chronicles 2 is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and will be available from July 8th, 2010 in Japan. Other regions have yet to a release date announced.
