After all the rumors Sony has finally announced that an optional paid service of the PSN will be coming very soon.
The service is called PlayStation®Plus and is an optional paid add-on to the free access of the PlayStation Network. Sony will start offering the new service package worldwide from June 29, 2010.
Here are the prices for the service:
For users’ convenience, PlayStation Plus will be available in different subscription options of 30 days (Japan: 500 yen, Asia: HK$38), 90 days (North America: $17.99, Europe: €14.99) and 365 days (Japan: 5,000 yen, Asia: HK$233, North America: $49.99, Europe: €49.99).
New Zealand prices have not been announced yet, but we will keep you posted when we have the details.

Members will have access to full versions of designated PS3, PSN and PSOne games with no time limit. These games will become available exclusively for PlayStation Plus members at no extra cost.
Content such as themes and avatars will be available at no extra cost.
Members will enjoy discounts on designated PS3 and PSP games. Game discounts will vary each month.
Access to to designated new game beta trials, game demos and video content prior to public distribution.
These are just some of the benefits announced so far by Sony. As aforementioned PlayStation Plus will be available from June 29, 2010.
