Earlier this weekend, there was a report that the file size of Split/Second’s data install was whopping 7GB. However, the report was wrong and the size found on the box art was a typo.
After installing Split/Second onto my PS3 hard drive and checking the file size, I found that it is not really 7GB. Instead, the file size is only at 3.7GB. Below is the screenshot that I took to prove that the 7GB data install report that was leaked yesterday was false.
This news should clear up the confusion on Split/Second’s mandatory install. Check back with us tomorrow for our detailed review of Split/Second.

May 16, 2010 at 12:01 PMWhen I first saw the “7gb install reveal” I was quite surprised and not all too happy. I’ll let an install slide if it’s below 5gb, sometimes even 5gb itself with games like MGS4 and Bioshock, but 7gb!? that’s too high, especially for an arcadey (arcady?) racing game like that, so I’m glad to hear that it’s only half the size, especially now that I’ve played the demo and have seen how pretty it is and experienced how much fun it can be. Thanks Mark Fajardo for specifying that the install isn’t that massive.
