Changing today is the PlayStation 3 exclusive company Insomniac Games. Partnering up with EA Partners, Insomniac is to deliver a new IP for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
While many articles have stated Insomniac Games are going multiplatform, the exact deal with EA Partners in fact with evidence from the developers twitter is a lot less lucrative. “This deal covers just this one new IP and game” this shows the Resistance and Ratchet & Clank games are still safely PlayStation 3 exclusives. The ‘just’ being the key word for all gamers what ever console they own. Unlike Rockstar & Grand Theft Auto 4 the exclusivity hasn’t changed console so i believe it’s not as harmful to Sony as it could have been.
It was only weeks ago when Patcher said Insomniac Games were mad for not going multiplatform removing the entire console base of the Xbox 360. Did his words change the developers minds or has this been in the pipeline for a while like the rumours which dotted around the net. Does this sway from a major PS3 exclusive developer show the change in less excluisivity through-out the gaming industry?
Maybe at E3 we shall find out.
