The subtitle for the much anticipated entry into the Dragon Quest franchise was trademarked recently in Europe, revealing the title to be Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies.
While a localization was expected, as Dragon Quest is generally held on the same level as the wildly successful Final Fantasy series, it was not confirmed until now. Indeed, it has not been officially revealed by Square-Enix yet, but it’s save to assume that the title will be making it’s way west.
Square-Enix even trademarked the name in different European languages, as shown below:

Dragon Quest IX: Centinelas del Firmamento
Dragon Quest IX: Le Sentinelle del Cielo

Dragon Quest IX was released in Japan with the subtitle of Defenders of the Starry Sky to critical acclaim and broke Japanese sale records. A release in North America and Europe is expected in 2010.
