As Halloween is fast approaching, Atlus is warning all heroes of Boletaria to take extreme caution while venturing in the world of Demon’s Souls. To celebrate Halloween, dark ominous cloud is engulfing the world. Powerful demon lurks around while great loots will come upon you. Proceed with extreme caution when playing Demon’s Souls online…
We don’t know when will the dark clouds will be lifted but hopefully after Halloween comes… Still don’t get it? Maybe the statement from Atlus’ great Aram Jabbari will;
“Early reports from the Kingdom of Boletaria indicate that the Old One’s power grows,” announced Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus, shuffling awkwardly under the weight of his full set of fluted armor. “We’ve discovered that the nefarious Demon will seek to descend the land in pure blackness on All Hallow’s Eve. His minions will be more powerful, but the rewards for those who seek to challenge them will be greater as well. We don’t know how long this dark tendency will last, but we do advise those prone to controller-into-LCD syndrome to proceed carefully.” Jabbari then cackled as he quickly put a Thief’s ring on his finger and disappeared.

October 29, 2009 at 6:10 PMHow about fixing the goddamn Atlus USA servers first before this nonsense? I bought the game three weeks ago and since then, I can never stay connected for more than an hour and sometimes, not more than 5 minutes. Fix this sh*t. Atlus’ painful obliviousness to our problems is so frustrating

October 29, 2009 at 6:29 PMI have never had any problems with the Atlus USA servers. Ever! Maybe it’s your internet connection.
Demons souls is awesome (but so frustrating at times). The Halloween thing is a cool idea. Innovative.

October 29, 2009 at 6:46 PMThink of it as their version of the “double xp weekend.” Only much harder.
I’m looking forward to it.

October 29, 2009 at 7:15 PM@Stinky, what are you wireless or wired? I’m in the UK and have had no problems with my import getting onto the USA servers. I decided that I would use wired as its better in my eyes :)
Loving the idea that they have done this, maybe they will do some dlc next :)

October 29, 2009 at 7:44 PMSweet! A friend was just asking me what I was doing on Halloween and I told him Demon’s Souls, not knowing about this. Been working 6 am to 8 pm all week and halloween is the 1st chance for me to play this week. Thank you Atlus for sweetening the game up which makes the wait seem quite alright. In regards to server issues I have had a few from time to time. Some lag then a disconnect. Happened twice. I reset router and modem and then it was fine for awhile.

October 29, 2009 at 8:01 PMI’ve played for over 60 hours so far without one connection issue. Game is awesome.

October 29, 2009 at 9:03 PM@eisenhorn001, I’m usually wireless but for Demon’s souls sake I tried connecting an ethernet cable straight up, but that didn’t fix the problems. I’m connected to PSN whenever I boot up my PS3, and have zero problems playing every other game online (Uncharted 2, Lost planet 2 demo, etc). Only when I load in the Demon’s Souls disc and start playing the game I run into every known connection issue imaginable. I played about 85% of the game offline, and invested close to 50 hours. And that too after countless restarts and resets in order to log into the Atlus servers. I usually have to quit game and load it again in order to try to connect to Atlus servers. Its a solid game, but the connection issues have taken half the fun out of it.

October 29, 2009 at 9:24 PMIt’s either party or demon souls, so so so had too choose. Tempting and yet so our my friends who don’t own the game. Only one choice prevails.

October 29, 2009 at 9:38 PMThe only time I’ve experienced any connection issues with my PS3 was when using it wirelessly and having the media server locater enabled. Once I disabled this feature and started using a wired connection those issues are not nonexistent.
Regarding Demon’s Souls, great game. I beat it already (with a mage) and have begun using a new character (female Royal). I’m really excited for Dragon Age. I hope it’s as robust as Demon’s Souls. It should have better co-op anyways.

October 29, 2009 at 9:39 PMThere’s a typo in my messege above. It should read, “…those issues are now nonexistent.”

October 30, 2009 at 12:03 AMI’ve also NOT HAD ANY problems with the US servers. Check your own router man. It’s probably the culprit here.

I did :( its a brand new one from D-Link, which I got two months ago. Port forwarded, DMZ’ed, etc. I’ll try to do what Jeter said about shutting off the media server, maybe thats screwing with it. Hopefully it will work, but I’ve already given up on it. Playing offline has become pretty standard for me because of these problems, and I know I’m missing out on bloodstains, messages, phantoms etc. Oh well.

November 2, 2009 at 11:18 PMThat is a pretty cool idea. I keep seeing such innovative features in Demon’s Souls, but I’m still not sure if it’s for me. I hope they put up a demo sometime!
