Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is a new action RPG for the Nintendo Wii. There are still a few months to go before the English language version is released here in the states, but I had a chance to play a bit of the Japanese version. So far I have to say that I’m pretty impressed, this is an action RPG that so far seems to hold it’s own against the bigger titles out there.
Here are some quick thoughts on Fragile: Farewell Ruins o the Moon.
Main Highlights
– The atmosphere is terrifically creepy and creates a great sense of being totally alone in a dark and devoid world. The story, from what I’ve seen so far, takes place in a post apocalyptic future, after a great war has destroyed most of humanity. Seto is one of the few remaining, and when he runs into a mysterious girl, he sets out to find out the truth behind everything that’s happened.
– Since the game is on the Wii, expect the Wiimote to be utilized. You’ll use it to open doors, control your flashlight, and pick up items along the way. As you progress through the game, you’ll hear various hints, these all come through the Wiimote speaker.
– The battle system is smooth, and very fluid. It’s very hack n slashy, similar to Muramasa. Not the deepest battle system in the world, but fun nonetheless.
– This game is made by Tri-Crescendo, the people behind Eternal Sonata. The graphics look great, for a Wii game anyway. While it won’t be topping any PS3 or 360 games, the creepy enviroments and chilling soundtrack bring you into this world even better than top-notch graphics ever could.
Our Thoughts?
So far, Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is the RPG I’m most looking forward to next year aside from White Knight Chronicles for the PlayStation 3. The atmosphere is probably the most engaging part of this game, it’s absolutely amazing. Since this is the Japanese version, we’ll hold off on final judgment. The game releases in the US next year and is published by XSeed games.
