One of the games I have been most looking forward to this year is WET. I finally got a chance to play the demo of Bethsoft’s new action game for the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3. Lets get to the point and say that the demo sucks and chances are, the final product won’t be much better.
The demo showcases three scenarios that you can play through. The first thing you probably raise a brow at is the graphics. This game won’t be winning any best graphics awards. Unfortunately, they haven’t improved much since we last saw the game back at E3.
WET’s gameplay is similar to that of No More Heroes or the Tomb Raider series. You run around shoot enemies while performing some slow-mo acrobatic skills that we’ve seen in countless other games of this style. Honestly, the game gets repetitive in less than 10 minutes and chances are, you’ll get bored with it fairly quickly.
Since the story is not really shown in the demo, I can’t comment on it. However, if the what I played is what the entire game will be like, then i doubt even the most compelling story would save this game. We’re still hoping for the best from this game so stay tuned for our full review in two weeks.

August 27, 2009 at 5:42 AMI have to agree with you here.. I was definitely pulled in the first time I saw the game, but then after watching the game play on Xplay… it was almost buzz killing. It has potential but it looks to be the Max Payne of this generation…which could go both ways.. I, for one.. wasn’t a Max Payne fan.

September 4, 2009 at 12:40 PMI really dig the demo. It’s got all kinds of flaws, to be sure, but I didn’t find myself getting bored of it.
It kind of got me into a weird “zen gamer” state that my all-time favorites manage to pull off (classic Doom, Max Payne 2). As a capital-G gamer, it will be a bit of a guilty pleasure – I’ll never be able to point to Wet for excellent graphics, story, production values or concept – but definitely a pleasure none the less.
That said, with all the super-games coming out this fall, Wet will more than likely be picked up down the road for a reduced price.

October 24, 2009 at 10:06 PMThis type of game has DEFINITELY been done way to many times before there has & is going to be way to many re-run games. I am waiting for an original like Fall out 3 (Just an example) That was way original. But originals only come every 6 years lol.

March 9, 2010 at 4:25 PMI rented this game and bayonetta yesterday. I tried out WET to see what it was like and I seriously wanted break the disc. I couldn’t find my way to get through even a quarter of the game without being totally bored. Slo-Mo’s are corny and was pretty much great back when Matrix came out. I tried playing longer but I just couldn’t take it anymore. $5.00 wasted, but glad I got Bayonetta to relieve me of my depression. Also, I hate Quentin Tarantino movies…
